Manatee County Tax Collector to Expand Parking Lot and Improve Building Entrance at DeSoto Office

The Manatee County Tax Collector’s Office at 819 301 Blvd W., Bradenton will be under construction beginning the first week of March with a scheduled completion by the end of May.  The parking lot will be expanded to hold 26 additional spaces along with a new southwest exit.  The building’s main entrance is being repurposed to be more energy efficient, provide added security and accommodate more lobby space for customers.  Manatee County Property Management is coordinating the project for the Tax Collector.

This is the last phase of construction that began in November 2010, with the first phase being completed in March 2011.  The construction was necessary for the Tax Collector to assume the driver license duties formerly handled by the Florida Driver License Office that closed in April of last year. Since assuming those responsibilities, the DeSoto office has served 121,000 customers, up 44,000 from the 77,000 served the entire previous year.

“We strongly encourage customers to visit our North River, Lakewood Ranch and Palma Sola offices if at all possible.  Our DeSoto office seems to be the first choice when conducting business with our office, and we urge you to please consider the other three locations as well as online at www.taxcollector.com.”

Customers need to know, however, that the DeSoto office is the only branch that processes All Driver License Testing, Reinstatements, Revocations, Cancellations, Suspensions, Immigrant/Non Immigrant (Non US Citizens) and Commercial Driver Licenses. The other branches can take care of Driver License renewals, ID cards and transfers from out-of-state licenses/title work, DMV registrations/renewals and property tax payments. Plus many of these can be handled online at www.taxcollector.com.

The addresses of the other branches are North River – 4333 US 301 N, Ellenton; Lakewood Ranch – 6007 111th ST E (SR 70); and Palma Sola – 7411 Manatee AV W (SR 64), Bradenton.  Appointments can be scheduled for driver license and title work by phoning 941.741.4800.  You may also TEXT “WAIT” to 41411 on your phone to obtain current wait times at all of the offices.
