County Tax Collector Ken
Burton Jr., named Marie Munford to become the next Director of the Operations Department. Longtime Director John Marble will retire October 1st and she will assume her duties October 2nd.
Marie began her career at the Manatee County Tax Collector’s Office in 1988 as an associate. She was promoted to Assistant Supervisor in 1993 and the Supervisor in 1994. She has been the Assistant Director of the Current Collections Department since 2002. She has served on many Florida Tax Collector Inc. coalitions. Among her accomplishments at the Tax Collector’s office has been the successful transfer of driver license duties from the state; coordinating the interiors/exteriors of office construction and remodel for all offices and the management of 60 staff members, the largest department in the office.
“Marie started at the office during the Sam Cornwell tenure,” said Burton. “She has worked up the ranks and made many, many contributions to both Current Collections and the Office as a whole. We try to promote from within and I believe we have made an excellent selection in Marie.”
“When Marie takes on project management, she gives 110% until completion,” said Tony Conboy III, Current Collections Director. “I am confident she will do a great job managing the Operations Department.”
“We believe that Marie’s knowledge of the office, her track record for implementing process improvement and her stellar work ethic will take the Operations Department to the next level,” Burton said. “She has earned this promotion.”
