The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations will require all CDL holders to provide medical certification to the Division of Motorist Services (DMS) by January 2014.
Starting July 2012, DMS will begin notifying CDL holders by mail of the new requirements in an effort to phase in the certification process over several months.
How does this affect you?
·Did you visit an office after January 1, 2012? If you provided your medical certification after January 1, 2012, you will be required to keep the information current. Failure to keep your information current may result in a CDL disqualification, which will suspend your driving privilege.
·Is your CDL current? You have until January 2014 to provide your medical certification. If you visit a driver license office to change your address or replace your lost/stolen CDL in the meantime, you will be required to provide your medical certification at that time.
·Do you have other questions? Visit the DMS website for more information.
