Temporary Plates: In order for our office to issue temporary plates, we require an application request (HSMV 83090) signed by an authorized dealer agent. If the person picking up the temporary plates is not the person listed on the dealer’s license we will need a letter on business letterhead as to who is authorized to pick up the temporary plates. This letter is for your protection. The temporary plates are sold in lots of 5. These temporary plates can only be purchased at 2 locations: The DeSoto Dealer Department and the DMV Regional Office.
Sales Tax: If a Florida dealer sells a vehicle, the dealer must collect the appropriate amount of sales tax.

If you have questions on a sales tax issue, you can contact the Department of Revenue Office at 1.800.FLADOR1 (352.3071). You may also visit their website at: http://dor.myflorida.com/dor.

DMV Procedure Manual

DR-123 Form

EXCEPTION: If the vehicle is being delivered to the customer out of state or to any port for exporting, a separate form must be completed by the dealer and the customer. This form will explain why the dealer is not collecting the sales tax. If you have any questions regarding a sales tax issue you can contact the Department of Revenue at 1-800-352-3671.
