(Bradenton FL) Thomas "Tom" Sheridan was selected as the Manatee County Tax Collector's Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter 2020. A University of South Florida graduate, Tom began his career as a part-time associate in the Operations Department in 2013 and was promoted to full time in 2015. Tom currently handles the internal courier service, vehicle maintenance, and mailed title work, among other responsibilities. He holds his Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification, earned multiple Perfect Attendance awards, served on the Best Business Practice Team 2017-18 and represented the office at the Florida Sterling Conference in 2018.

"Tom is a valuable team player who exemplifies our core values of customer focus, excellence and accountability, and teamwork," said Tax Collector Ken Burton, Jr. "He has received recognition from other departments. Most recently, he was commended by our Customer Contact Center for drastically reducing inquiries from customers waiting on work to be processed. On average, Tom decreased the turnaround time of the work by over 70 percent! That alone is praiseworthy."

"With recent changes in our department, Tom took on additional responsibilities, including the new role of processing titles by mail," said Kristy Chapman, Operations manager. "He has done an incredible job. Even during tax season, our busiest time of year, we know that Tom is not only going to complete his tasks by the deadline but is going to continue to produce quality work."

"We have a very high level of confidence in Tom," said Marie Inotai, Operations director. "He is dependable, and we appreciate him and everything he does to assist in ensuring a smooth operation."

Tom represents our core values of customer focus, innovation, future focus, integrity and respect, teamwork, and excellence and accountability. His name is engraved on the Employee of the Quarter Trophy; he receives a merit certificate, a reserved parking space, a uni-leave day, names a themed casual day, and receives a free pizza from Demetrio's Pizza House, Cortez Road.
