Fire or Going Out of Business Permit Application Instructions:

  • You must complete the application in full.
  • A current inventory list must accompany your application.
  • A copy of the proposed advertisement must accompany your application
  • You must surrender to the Tax Collector all other business licenses for the premises.
  • A permit will not be issued until all taxes have been paid.
  • The Tax Collector's fee of $50.00, which is set by law, must accompany the application.
  • The permit shall authorize the sale described in the application for a period of not more than sixty (60) consecutive days, counting Sundays and legal holidays.
  • The permit shall authorize only the one type of sale described in the application at the location named in the application.
  • The permit shall authorize only the sale of goods described in the inventory attached to the application.
  • The permit shall not be assignable or transferable.
  • The sale must be held in strict conformance to the advertisement.
  • Failure to obtain the required permit is a violation of Section 559, Florida Statutes, resulting in a misdemeanor of the second degree.
  • It is your responsibility to keep the required books and records, and make your records available for inspection.
  • It is your responsibility to keep the inventory list current.
  • If you are in business as of January 1st you will be required to pay taxes for that year.
  • It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to notify the Property appraisers office that you are no longer in business.
