Click here (PDF : XLS) to view the list of county held certificates (June 17 2008)

County Held Certificates: If there are no bidders for the delinquent taxes, each applicable tax certificate is issued in the name of Manatee County (County-Held). In addition, (1) a tax certificate representing less than $100 in delinquent taxes on property that has been granted homestead exemption can only be sold to Manatee County at the maximum interest rate allowed by law (18%); (2) when the delinquent taxes are on subsurface right, the fee owner to which these subsurface rights are attached has the right to purchase the tax certificate at the maximum rate of interest allowed by law (18%) before bids are accepted for the sale of such certificates; and (3) Parcels that have made application and been approved for the Tax Deferred Program.

The tax certificates issued to Manatee County as a result of the $100 homestead, the subsurface rights or deferred tax CAN NOT be purchased by the general public. All other County-Held certificates are available at any time to the general public.

If you are interested in purchasing any of the remaining tax certificates (county-held), please feel free to download the current listing available. If there are parcels you are interested in, please contact our office by phone (941) 741-4832 or via e-mail susanp@taxcollector.com for the pay-off amount needed to purchase. The amounts showing on the list are the amounts from the original tax certificate sale, not the amounts needed to purchase.

After you’ve received the amounts due, you can mail our office the total amount due (must be paid with cashier’s check, certified funds or money order) plus the following information:
1) The name (exactly the way you want it to appear in public records; specify and, or, and/or, etc)
2) Address – If you use a P. O. Box, please provide a physical address also
3) E-mail address (if applicable)
4) Social Security Number or Federal ID Number
