The State-owned and operated DMV Regional Office is located in Palmetto. This office serves southwest Florida, which includes Manatee, Sarasota, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, DeSoto, Charlotte, Lee, Glades, and Collier counties. This office handles many different transactions and services that cannot be completed at the Manatee County Tax Collector's Office; some of which include:

Rebuilt Vehicle Inspections (see Section 2 for information about private inspections)
Out-of-Country Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Verifications (title/registered owner must be present)

2. Private Rebuilt Vehicle Inspection Providers
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) has expanded to allow for private rebuilt inspections through the Private Rebuilt Vehicle Inspection Program (PRVIP). Visit the FLHSMV's PRVIP page (flhsmv.gov/motor-vehicles-tags-titles/dealers-installers-manufacturers-distributors-importers/prvip) for a list of providers approved to conduct your rebuilt inspection.
Those interested in becoming a PRVIP participant should contact the DMV Regional Office for assistance. An application and fingerprint background check must be completed, along with meeting other requirements.
