Cancellation: Failure to Complete School

DRIVER LICENSE OFFICE – 904 301 BLVD W, BRADENTON

Customers will be charged a $6.25 Tax Collector service fee for information and processing, and additional transaction fees may apply. Visit taxcollector.com to schedule your appointment. Services are for Manatee County residents and businesses only.  

If you are required to complete a Basic Driver Improvement Course (BDI), a Traffic Collision Avoidance Course (TCAC), Advanced Driver Improvement School (ADI), or a Substance Abuse Education Course (DUI School) and you fail to complete the course within 90 days of receiving notice from the Division of Driver Licenses, your driving privilege will be cancelled until you successfully complete the required course(s).
 
1. Basic Driver Improvement Course (BDI)

This 4-hour course is required when you receive any of the following.  You will be required to take an approved BDI Course that will be verified via an online verification system.
2. Traffic Collision Avoidance Course (TCAC) 

If you are convicted in a traffic crash resulting in injury or death, or two crashes involving property damage of at least $500 within two years, you must complete an approved 4-hour Traffic Collision Avoidance Course (TCAC).  Your completion will be verified via an online verification system

Note:  Proof of completion of a Basic Driver Improvement Course (BDI) after the crash date will satisfy this requirement.

 
3. Advanced Driver Improvement School (ADI)

If you are a repeat traffic offender who has accumulated excessive points for traffic violations that resulted in a Points Suspension, Habitual Traffic Offender or your license was revoked for racing on a highway, you must complete an approved 12-hour Advanced Driver Improvement School (ADI).  Your completion will be verified via an online verification system
 
4. Acceptable Methods of Payment and Estimated Fees

We will accept cash, check, debit cards, and credit cards. A $2.50 processing fee for debit cards and a 2.5% processing fee (minimum of $2.50) for credit cards will apply. Our office does not retain any portion of this fee.

5. Additional Information

 You may contact the traffic school of your choice to register for the applicable course. However, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles must approve the course. Traffic schools are listed in your local telephone directory under "driving instruction" or "traffic schools”. And, approved providers are also available at http://www.flhsmv.gov/ddl/drivingcourses.html. Our office does not offer any of the above referenced traffic school courses.

 If you do not take the correct course required for your citation, you will be required to retake the correct course and pay any applicable fees.

 
 If you need a replacement license, you must submit documents that establish your identity pursuant to the Real ID Act (e.g. US birth certificate, US passport, USCIS/INS documents, proof of name change(s), Social Security Card and 2 proofs of residential address) unless you already have a Real ID compliant Florida driver license and no changes are needed.  For a complete list of acceptable identity documents, visit flhsmv.gov/whattobring.

 An Online Application is REQUIRED for all transactions! To complete your driver license or ID card transaction at one of our offices, you must complete the Online Driver License & ID Card Application (https://taxcollector.jotform.com/210103795736152) – or scan the QR code to access the application – prior to your appointment. Do not print the application; an associate will access your electronic submission during your appointment. Applications are valid for 90 days.
