A court has ruled to suspend or revoke your driver license because you were convicted of possession, sale, trafficking in, or conspiracy to possess, sell or traffic controlled substances.  The length of suspension or revocation depends on your age and the number of prior offenses.  Listed below are standard revocation and suspension periods; however, the court can rule to revoke your license for longer or even indefinitely.

 18 Years old or Older

 s. 322.055, F.S

Any offense prior to 7/01/14  2 year revocation
Any offense on or after 7/01/14,   convicted prior to 10/01/19  1 year revocation
Any conviction on or after 10/01/19  6 month revocation

 Under 18 Years of Age  s. 322.056, F.S
1st Offense (prior to 7/01/14)  6 month revocation
Subsequent Offense (prior to 7/01/14)  2 year revocation
Subsequent Offense (on or after 7/01/14, convicted prior to   10/01/19)  1 year revocation
Any offense for convictions on or after 10/01/19  6 month revocation

Note:  When a court directs the Division of Driver Licenses to suspend or revoke for Chapter 893 and your license is already suspended or revoked for any reason, the time period will automatically extend the longest running suspension or revocation on your driving record.

You will have three options when this type of suspension or revocation is on your record:

Option 1: WAIT OUT THE SUSPENSION OR REVOCATION PERIOD

Once the expiration date has passed, you can reinstate one of two ways:

Online! Many suspensions/revocations can be reinstated online - or scan the QR code to access the site. Remitting payment and reinstating online will save you a trip to our office

In person. Appointments are required - schedule an appointment at taxcollector.com. This transaction can only be done at the Driver License Office located at 904 301 Blvd. W in Bradenton.

An Online Application is REQUIRED for all transactions! To complete your driver license or ID card transaction at one of our offices, you must complete the Online Driver License & ID Card Application (https://taxcollector.jotform.com/210103795736152) – or scan the QR code to access the application – prior to your appointment. Do not print the application; an associate will access your electronic submission during your appointment. Applications are valid for 90 days.

Option 2: APPLY FOR FULL REINSTATEMENT BEFORE TIME PERIOD IS UP

To be eligible for full reinstatement prior to the expiration date of the suspension or revocation, all of the following must be completed:

You must serve at least 6 months of the revocation/suspension period and your driver license must be otherwise eligible.

You must complete a drug treatment and rehabilitation program sponsored by the Department of Children and Families.  (You can find a list of providers by visiting myflfamilies.com/service-programs/samh/.)  And, you must present the original Certificate of Completion that will be scanned and subject to verification to ensure that it was issued by an approved DCF provider.  (It will also be faxed to the Bureau of Motorist Compliance in Tallahassee for further verification and to adjust any dates, if needed.)

An Online Application is REQUIRED for all transactions! Option 3: APPLY TO BAR FOR EARLY REINSTATEMENT

If you do not want to wait out the suspension/revocation period, you can contact the Bureau of Administrative Review (BAR) to find out if you are eligible for a hardship license and request a hearing.  (Note: You must serve at least 6 months of the revocation/suspension period.) Our office cannot advise you whether or not you are eligible for a hardship license. If BAR approves issuance of a hardship license, you have three options for obtaining the physical license:

Option 1: If BAR approves your application for a hardship license, they will issue a license with the proper hardship restriction and it will be mailed to you from Tallahassee.

Option 2: In the rare case that BAR does not issue the license, you may be able to reinstate and request a new license online! If BAR has indicated on your record that you have been approved and the proper restriction to be placed on your license, you can reinstate and request your new license online - or scan the QR code to access the site. Remitting payment and reinstating online will save you a trip to our office.

Option 3: In the rare case that BAR does not issue the license, you can visit our office for issuance.  Upon verification of the hardship authorization, our office will issue a replacement license with the appropriate restriction, provided you submit the following:
