If you recently purchased a boat or received one as a gift, you may need to title and register it in Florida before it can be used on Florida waters. Most motorized boats, as well as non-motorized boats 16 feet or longer, are required to be titled and registered. Sales tax may also be due at the time of transfer unless an exemption applies.
Boat and utility trailers weighing 1,999 pounds or less are not titled in Florida, but they are required to be registered to operate on Florida roadways. Sales tax and registration fees may also apply.
